Biography
Jhonen grew up in east San Jose. Upon graduating from Mount Pleasant high in 1992, he enrolled in film classes at De Anza College. during his time there, he began to work on his cartoons which he would later pitch to various publications. Jhonen's first opus, was published in an underground goth 'zine entitled Carpe Noctem.

Despite the fact that most people think that Jhonen may be as sick and twisted as his Tim Burton-ish cartoons, it has been said that he seems to be a real friendly guy who grows bored with his creations quickly. In addition to drawing, he also has a great addiction to video games. He also visits various comic conventions throughout California to hear from his fans.

What does this guy do in his free time? Jhonen is a hard-core video game addict and also enjoys anime, especially Trigun and Evangelion. Comedies are also at the top of his list. I also read in an interview somewhere that he likes to play the drums. Jhonen also enjoys munching on bagels and Skittles candies. And those marshmallow Peeps candies.

Is there anything this guy doesn't like? A small list of things that most definitely DO NOT rock Jhonen's twisted world: Obsessed hellfans, Los Angeles, and Biscotti. Old Scooby-Doo reruns annoy him as well.

Who are his favorite characters from his comics and cartoon? His favorite comic characters are Tenna and Devi. From "Invader Zim", he likes Dib and Gaz.

What's with the glasses? In a chat log conducted in October 2001, Jhonen claimed that wearing corrective lenses was the price to pay for being able to see in to different dimensions. Dimensions of hate and candy.
